Joining the Dots

Steph alighted from a Matatu in Nairobi at OTC bus station.
He had travelled for one and half hours from his home County.
The thoughts of the warm welcome by his parents and the delicious 'aromatic' food are still fresh in his mind.He had first to reset his mind and body into aggression mode and ready to hit shoulders,as well as apologize to several whom he will have stepped on their toes.

Before making a step  further he watched the hustle and bustle of Nairobians he chuckled and wondered,'Why are this people running up and down, can't they be relaxed?,Why can't they shop online? At this point he tapped his red bag pack which had his Laptop,a few clothes and 10 chapati's.
He had to tightly adjust the shoulder straps and waist harnesser...otherwise he might realize why not everyone has a laptop.

He started maneuvering his way through,..then a thought hits after seeing how everyone just minds their own business, 'What is my business in life?'. He relaxes the steps,he is headed to the stage to pick a Matatu to drop him off in Campus,'School?,not now',he changes direction and connects with Haile Selassie Avenue headed to Bomb Blast Memorial Park,he pays 20bob at the entrance, buys  Picana and njugu and sits in one of the pews.

He needed an answer.He rested.
He remembered when he was eight years old how his dad started a shop back in the village.
He smiled at thought of  first customer who bought the filter-less cigar 'rocket' and sweets 'koo'. Though they weren't well up financially, but this became the milestone for their well being. His dad by then was an employee with a firm dealing with diary milk collection from farmers, later till now he does dairy farming.During weekends as young as from class three he was the shopkeeper,he was  brilliant with figures.

Steph checked on his passions and behaviors, how he used to sell watches and radios at school. How he took advantage of sports day to supply refreshment. How he loved issues to do with health but at the sight of blood he puked. How he loved making profit. He remembered during JAB applications how he was torn in between Nursing course(which he chose as first choice) and B.com (2nd choice) where he was admitted to the latter. How some of his Inshas used to be hailed and even read to other classes. How he enjoyed soccer and table tennis....

He started joining the dots of what he still loves today,a couple of years have passed now...He had registered a company while still in campus,in the table tennis campus team, enjoyed writing. He joined the dots for his Dad from being an employee in dairy business to doing dairy business. He remembered Abedi Pele and how his sons Andre Ayew,Jordan Ayew,Abdul Rahim Ayew..all became footballers like their dad.He connected the dots of  the likes of William Ruto & Kabando wa Kabondo were student leaders and ended up being politicians.....He sipped the remaining drink and left, his question partly answered.

We cannot ignore our past because with it comes lessons and acquired traits. How we've been brought up,who we admire, who we relate with, the choices we make........>present state .........>future state.

Campus Confession II

I love change,as a result I was eager to know what there is after campus, though it came with mixed reaction of happiness(no more books) and uncertainty(what next). There were so many unanswered questions(not yet fully answered even as I write this). All the same I had to face it.I told God to reveal to me directly(Plan A) what he wants me to do otherwise I will apply to 100 companies for job in Logistics and Supply Chain,Marketing & Graduate Management Trainee(Plan B).If a job comes,I will conclude it's God will, if it doesn't He wants me to go ahead with plan C which I love more than B.

My plan C is being in business.Unfortunately when business is mentioned there are some people who start seeing me busy selling unga, salt, sugar,or something of the sort.A kiosk or even better a tuckshop. Nooo,a business is a system that makes you money even when you are absent for an year because it has structures.
Most of what we call business is self-employment because they die when the owner leaves or dies as well.E.g, A lawyer who freelances his services,if he falls sick, there will be no money to be made, but if he has established a legal firm where he has employed other lawyers, even when absent his firm still makes money.Business should outlive us and be enjoyed by many more generation to come.

My colleagues and most of us,especially in Schools of Business want to do their 'own thing' in the near future but as it is said that there is always a starting point, which most of us think it's a job.So that one can go 'acquire capital' and 'skills and knowledge' to go start their own business.I beg to differ. If one has no interest in starting accountancy firm what skills and knowledge will they acquire working as an accountant?.If one is paid net of 50k,pays rent 10k,transport 6k,Food 6k, Entertaintment &Miscleneous 5k,Sambaza(Friends&Relatives) 5k,Tithe 5k...what remains is 10k,...Eeeeh,what can we say about acquiring capital. To make it worse when will one have time to think business when  being overworked as a donkey. When one get's to their house they just hug the bed dearly.

Campus teaches us that, we get good grades so that we can get good jobs.I'm slowly stamping that LIE,I signed while still studying.Jobs are as scarce as illiterate Chinese.I'm not shocked to have applied to 20 firms so far,5 regrets and 15 don't cares(no reply)...and my hunger to continue with my all time favorite plan C intensifies.

Dr Iraki,Mr.Mulwa, Dr Bitange Ndemo,Dr Njihia were right, thank you for giving me the real knowledge...leave alone those proud minded finance and accounting lecturers who thought within the box. They made me hate those subjects by challenging our minds into things I'm finding very stupid out here. Now that jobs are scarce, how will that question of Sleep,Consumption & Income in economics help me find a job or pay bills, how about those sets, how to account for assets instead of how to acquire assets.

To those studying and out here we have to find a solution in a creative way.I'm a testimony that one doesn't need money to start a business, just throw away that old way of thinking. As you study just know you are doing your best to get a profession, in whichever the field you are in,not to get a job or get rich but for self-satisfaction and actualization,it's no wonder one is supposed to study what they love. For one to make big chunks of money think business system.
I understand perfectly that not all can be entrepreneurs and therefore wish them well, ensure you get as many papers as networks as possible(watu wamesoma huku nje, haija!).

Despite all being said and done we will emerge victorious regardless of the route.See you at the top!

Why I joined O.D.M Camp

When  O.D.M is mentioned most of us perceive this are political news but nope!. Politics is another days' article...In  this context it means One Disappointed Man...and that person is me.Yesterday was a day of it's kind,I was having a C.A.T in one of the units I'm taking in my Undergraduate studies referred to as Accounting For Equities. When it comes to studies there is no time that one will fully say that She/He is ready to tackle that exam, there is still some doubt as to whether you've fully covered what is expected of you.

I convinced myself that I'm Ok and walked towards the exam station, from the hostel I was sharing with a friend how campus life is different from what everyone thinks when joining...like there is no working hard to pass,Every one is evil in campus...but on the contrary Campus can frustrate you if you lazy around, n this is a place where we have extremely good people but also extremely bad...lukewarmness ain't the language, you've to choose where you belong...

On entering the exam room the question paper was brought & what I saw eeeeeh, shocked me,I went through the question for the first time,no Idea,The 2nd,still no Idea n the 3rd,still no Idea,I resigned to fate folded my hands looked up,sideways, jotted a few things to gunner me a mark or two and majestically walked out knowing that's failure in one way,but success in another...

I hated the experience, the unit...n the lecturer.I condemned my brain...but I came to appreciate one thing Accounting is not my thing,I'm relieved.I'm not weak in any way it's only that my brain is tailored towards other areas in life and talented in other fields.

Cheerio Accounting.

Life,Just Started

I asked my parents how my life was when I was a toddler, the response: fun -oriented,inquisitive,vulnerable to diseases( Had even been admitted to a  hospital for Pneumonia) & wanted to be in the company of my Dad.

I recall my first day in Pre-Primary school,it was war,I didn't want to be separated  from the warmth of my parents. With time I got used, but I can't forget several incidences:

One is the porridge we used to take(hated it,but you had to take under supervision).

Second, the final exam used to be oral where you had to identify colour and alphabets.(Failed to talk, therefore it was decided I can't proceed, but my Dad insisted I had to re-take it in the presence of the head teacher and him too,it's then that I gathered courage and was allowed to proceed primary).

Third, the do's and don'ts and the final prayer of the day that used to go:"Thank you Lord for your care from morning till now Amen"And chuup! run out of class like we were from a jail.

Life too is so,has such experiences even as we get older and older:

#We tend to Love to the status quo.It will always drag us behind never to cherish the coming opportunities.

#Separation is part of our day to day lives, via circumstances,it will happen,we get separated from our old friends, acquaintances, colleagues, parents, fond times

#At times we will be forced to do things that are not pleasing or we even fear, but they are of great help to our endeavors.

#No Matter what we're going through  it will soon pass, and chuup! we'll be free  at last.

'Discambuate' This Man if You Meet.

Life is a journey.

It takes bold steps to move from one point to the other. A lot happen to our lives we may be tempted to almost give up. In the blink of an eye someone just appears from nowhere makes two or three statements in a jovial mood and all over sudden the room is filled with laughter and smiles.

There are people who create memories and help even to keep them alive. Took us the most memorable photos, made the most comical statements, shared with us their mind for reference in case of trouble.

Talk of creativity and all-roundness, these are the people who will give an approach to something and you'll be left,'ahaa, classic thought'. You  sit with them in a brainstorming session and let your thoughts flow, come up with an idea and they add a tonnes of weight ot it .It becomes concrete.

These are the kind of people you wish you met earlier in life. Things would never have been the same  again. But appreciate them since they came when they were needed most.

They indirectly teach you to love God by their commitment to serve, their zeal to see the best is presented to God. I mean they are restless when it comes to their service. At times they even make it humorous in their quest to give the best.
......

One day an agreement was made to wake up for Morning Devotion, whoever wakes up earlier to call the others, so someone knocked his room at 5a.m,he met with a smile, 'Let's go', he was told,'aah,Yeees, yes', he replied, turned back and locked the door, 'Who are these??!' he was heard clicking, when gently asked in the morning he said that honestly nobody had called him! He must be dreaming I guess.

In another occasion we left from a sound-crew bash late night and all of sudden the noises of sufuria can't let me sleep, on checking from the sinks. I find him, 'Mluje ni Ugali!,hizo zilikuwa appetizer bratha',he said.
....

As you get older Willy Siundu. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. May you continue shining in people's life.

First Day in Campus

When I was admitted and oriented to Lower Kabete I thought this was my life time chance to turn around things.I was optimistic that my course mate&lecturers would leverage my mind into realizing my long-lived dream of getting business ideas and exploiting opportunities. But I was amazed and amused to get into my 'Quantitative methods of Business' class to start another impractical journey into realizing my goal...

In short buddies do you recall the Micro-economics question on Consumption,Income&sleep OK tell where in real world will you apply such stuff. After conversing with fellow comrades they told me you have to struggle with this 'things' so as to pass get a nice grade and a well paying job...it sounds good en he!Here is the trap very few will tell you how you can use your entrepreneurial skills to apply what you are studying, some students argue that they don't have the money to venture into business but the reality is they don't have viable business ideas.I know entrepreneurs willing to finance people with great ideas...

My worry is who are the job creators if the 'smartest brains' think just like any other person who didn't school who only want a job & a mere comfortable life for his/her family whereas he has potential to do more than that.Guys let's blow our minds & stop playing safe and limiting our self by societal expectations & our poor education system tailored only for us to be job-seekers.

I have worked on the shock I received but I tenaciously hold on to my goal through paradigm shift of what others expect from me.

GMO Kids

Being through with exams is the best experience as student,I went basked in the field....I laughed when I remembered the awesome moments in my childhood days.

Class Two:
We were learning a singing memory game going like this,"head, shoulder, knees and toes..."unfortunately I had forgotten where the knees were!,I touched the head, shoulders,(skipped the knees) and touched the toes twice,wa,this was the first time I was caned on my butts(I added weight due to swelling, the teacher didn't have mercy)

Class Three:
I used to perform well but there was competition from friends especially one Tony,Alice,Stane...but an incident I will never forget is when I was told to go and buy a queen cake,oh my what's this!,I just went and asked for a cake and I was given mandazi-like cakes,I forgot the word 'queen'!,took it to the teacher but said no ,'I want a queen cake",but because I was jumpy and hitting the ball...again I forgot,'queen' I bought some bans took them to the teacher.Trouble!,I received some tectonic pinches that awakened my memory and for the 3rd time I was headed to the shop again for a queen cake, this time round I didn't go with the ball but I was on a chorus,'queen cake ,queeeeen caake, quuuueeeen ....' and on arrival at the shop I just let it out  loudly that everybody laughed,"QUUUUUUUUEEEEN CAKE!".

Class Four-Eight.
Life was fuuuuun and crazy:
The order was  playing soccer, boring and scary teachers except the G.H.C,endless games, receiving gifts for performing well.
But two incidences are vivid:

I wasn't going with any book home,To do what with them?I  wasn't going to read anyway,so I used to leave them in one of my friends shop whom we were in the same class.I  convinced my parents that after all,I will pass whether I went with them or not and they were okay.It was the case anyway.
One day  I was late for school, hurriedly I went picked up my friends books from their shop.On entering class the teacher was marking assignments only to find I don't have my books, wawawa!,talk of beating...

The class teacher,(we used to call him Kababa)in another incident found out we were making a lot of noise with the friends we were sitting next to,a reshuffle of sitting arrangement was done.We were very unhappy with the current one and somehow we re-arranged ourselves. We were back to our noisy status. The teacher was furious, came and told the three of us to go and wait for him in the staffroom.
Enhe!,Stane and I decided no way, this man will kill us so we decided to go and hide in the loos in the hope that he will forget, but during break time we decided to go to the field, play soccer then back to our hiding place. From nowhere someone just grabbed my hand, and on checking who,I was close to fainting.Kababa!.He then called Stane and we were locked in the past papers room for some minutes as he sipped coffee and snacks.Boom!,the door was opened, and a pipe close to 'Nyahunyo',wawawa...That is the best exercise I think he has ever had with human beings,I thought he was a retired paramilitary guy, talk of  no-orthodox beating!

...When I see kids today what they do for fun and the easy life academies have subjected them into,n I recall the things we used to do.I can only pity  how GMO they are.
Lessons stick when the test is fairly tough. The 'kababa' style.Memories stick best when I look at my how my legs are scary and 'defaced' but sporty.

.....I wonder why campus exams have to remind me all this.

Goodbye Campus

 Aroma Springs at Ngong' Hills
I woke up earlier today.2hrs prior to my normal waking time,I mean at 6am(very early in deed, hee, small head).I'm catching up with my short notes, mwakenya,of my last paper in campus,Project Management(DOM 402).'Yauauauaaaaaa,wuuui',this are yawning screams of Simon ,'Hungu/Hawks' as we usually refer to him who stays directly down my room in first floor of Meru hostel,I have been staying in Meru 36.Another comical guy who uses English like Babu Owino having been my room mate in 2nd yr,Kape 55 (This reminds me of the other rooms I stayed at;Kape 43 with Nderitu and New York  G03 with Muragz).

...At 9am,I'm seated at Biashara hall,Onserio Nyamwange is the one administering the exam.Well, the paper is fair but one had to think since it was mostly application.I like it since cramming has never been my thing.I was lucky to have chosen a specialization from Department of Management Science, they've really taught me to think nonparallel(Though of late I thought it could have been a brilliant idea if I had majored in  Marketing, though all my electives have been from).By 11:30 I was out though I didn't manage to finish all the questions.Que Sera Sera, whatever will be will be....I'm done with 8-4-4,16 years of mental, social, physical and spiritual growth but most importantly but dangerous, the easy fuuuuuuuun life.

Off to my hostel I let loud screams,it relieves I tell you.Picked up my phone and  called my Dad,'Hallo there, your son is done with schooling','Oooh that's brilliant,I'm very happy for you',he replied. After conversing a little he asked,'Have you rented a place to live',I chuckled and replied,'Yeah,yeah'..I knew that was a technical send off from home, anyway I can't go back there to suckle or what?I gat to be a man,you know.Thank you parents for all what you've done for me,it's your turn to watch the pace,I won't let you down when it matters most.I'll be all what I've ever promised.Don't worry about me any longer let rubber meet the road.

I then knock at Willi's room(neighbor) with a stick I was walking with.On opening the door, phuuua!,All eyes on me Anno,Challis,Gakuha and Willi, 'mzimamzima' they lift me and take me to the bath tab,'Kuoshwa reloaded and cleansing' that I've misbehaved.Mind you Jackie and Diana were watching.Anno is more interested with my feet(the instep, foot sword, toes and arch) and as he claims that,I have the ugliest legs on earth, scars and scaly(I have to confess I don't lotion my legs, stop imagining),he even says that I have a weapon of mass  destruction by my side. That I'll be telling my kids,'Can you come here or I get rid of my shoes!(Anno wewe!,hizo maskwembe zako zinakaa kama ..[Chinku atamalizia]).This guys have made life to be fun.
Ushers Lower Kabete CU
I walk down from the hostel and sat on dunga...I'm through with my studies and have to vacate by tomorrow,Wa!...my memory take me back to my LASTS,lecture in Quality Management by Dr. Okwiri,Acting during Bible Exposition,Aroma send off bash at King'eero,Usher's farewell at Kabete for a Choma,Class Fellowships,Bible Study at Block B21,Friday and Sunday Services on 11th and 13th April respectively,Dstv watching Real Madrid and Bayern Munich(Champions League Semi Final-1st Leg),Greenhorn Farewell at Laico Regency...I'll go for my last table tennis game later in the day,and waiting for a bonfire/academic fire tonight.

Thank you all for making my life happy in my stay at UoN,School of Business,Lower Kabete.
I'll always cherish the moments.Wishing you all the best there is in life.

Day One 'Out Here'

Photocredit:Pinterest

I’m leaning on the grill from the fifth floor of the current place of residence, listening to hymn instrumentals. It’s 6pm.I’m enjoying one of the most beautiful scenery of nature; magnificent, dimly red-orange beautiful rays of the sun going down. I like it. It helps me get critical and deep about life as well as acting as a relaxer.

Last night I didn’t have a chance to sleep having gone to a sleep over organized by Rays of Hope. On arrival at the venue I’m thrilled by the creativity and entrepreneurial nature of the owner who has built a conference facility at his place of residence for hire. It’s in a low density estate gated community.

As introductions continue it really hits me hard and emotional to remember what had happened during the day. Parting ways with some of the most brilliant people I’ve spent my time with for the last four years. I remembered the laughter we’ve ever had, the team building activities, the challenge they gave me, the struggles we went through and here I was saying goodbye. For once I hated the closeness I created and endeavored to have with all my course mates.

Time flies, I’ve no single regret of how I spent the moments in campus. What mattered to me most is not the grades I’ll leave with like the social network I’ll have once I was out of Campus and also what I will leave behind once I’m out of that place. People were and will always be my true single investment I made in my four years. We learnt from each other not to forget those I interacted with even in lower years of study. As Randy Travis puts it in his song three wooden crosses, it’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you, but, what you leave behind once you are gone.

Once again I take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for finding a minute to have a chat
with me. I treasure you all and more so UoN, Bachelor of Commerce class of 2014.May the Almighty Jehovah see you through in all your endeavors. May doors open in all the places you knock and be received warmly. Despite the don’t care attitude in the world, for once it will be different for us.

…the introductions were halted as one the Alumni ray wanted to have a word with us. He was a brilliant speaker and had comical delivery skills. He left us with a classical scenario of what will happen to our lives, that despite the fact that aircrafts differ in the way they take off in the end they all fly at above 30,000 ft altitude, autopilot level. In the long run we will all be flying at 30,000+ ft it does not matter how long it will take us or the method we shall use. See you there.

Irreversible Mistake

Early this week I wrote an article begging for a 2nd chance but it is eminent that some blunders are costly and are meant for us to learn while the affected individual or entity languishes.
I still appreciate that we’re prone to make mistakes, to err they say is human but there are times that is just a mere consolation bearing in mind that there are irreversible mistakes.

The Japanese, ’Just in Time’ philosophy is one of its kind that almost condemns errors & waste. Computers have revolutionalised the way things are done by enhancing precision and accuracy.

The phrase, ’Quality, quality, quality!’ is not new in modern times all this is attainable via ensuring there is no mistake in their processes.

Think of the bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Kodak’s failure to revamp its digital camera, Nokia’s slow uptake to adapt to touch screen technology made its image tarnished and be overtaken by other mobile phone manufacturers, Think of our education system that hails only the A-students and sees the others as outcast bearing in mind the many talents that each individual is endowed with (This reminds me of a friend whose skills in soccer were amazing unfortunately he didn’t  get the much needed support from parents to nurture the same).

In 1994 Piper Bravo Oil rig during a routine check, inspectors removed and replaced all safety valves, except for one, which was never put back. Unaware that the safety valve was missing, a worker pushed the start button, and gas began to leak out.An explosion followed thereafter killing 167 of the workers.

There was a time back in the 20th Century when Pepsi was struggling with bankruptcy.Coca cola was offered a chance 3 times in fact to buy the struggling company but it shrugged off the idea. They now have to constantly be on toes to check on Pepsi.
...
We can recall what happened to Muamar Gaddafi for failing to read the signs, that it was time for peacefully quitting, too bad for him.

Work on giving the best every time leaving no room for possible errors, some are irreversible.

Risky?

Whenever the word risk is mentioned most people tremble. They think that the outcome of a risky undertaking is always negative. It's justifiable because from definitions such words as probability/threat/likelihood/possibility are used but none gives certainty that it must happen. So,does this mean that if a situation is risky they should be avoided?
Let's look at a 'risky' scenarios here:
-Not following what everyone else thinks is right.
The story of successful school drop out can be an example or those who due to circumstances, didn't get a chance to further their studies and they still turn out to be victorious. Also the fact there are people who have taken the path less taken and turned out to be heroes tells us a lot.

The best way I've found to analyze risk is looking at the worst case scenario of an undertaking.
An example would be between channeling our energy into getting employment and trying out business which is riskier?
Employment:

^What it takes to start get one
-Good formal education in advanced levels
-Faking that you Love the work and other hullabaloo during interview(I understand there are those whose    seek employment genuinely because they love what they do,but they are very few)
-Results oriented mentality and ability to meet crazy deadlines.
-.....
^Results
-Good pay
-Security(If it's a government job because in private sector it';s very dynamic)
-....
^Worst Case Scenario
-Losing your job
-Dissatisfaction
-Mind closure
-Financial rat race.
-.....
Business:

^What it takes to get started
-Passion
-Knowledge in your line of focus
-Capital
-Emotional stability
-.....
^Results
-Your own time master
-Financial Freedom
-Creativity and Innovation
-Job creation
-....
 ^Worst Case Scenario.
-One can lose their investments.

I'm tempted to ask which is riskier?

We risk death by being alive, why play safe anyway, let's take wise risks. We learn to walk by falling down simply because we took that risk,I doubt whether we could have ever learnt to walk.

And as Theodore Roosevelt in Strenuous Life put:
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”

It's Like a Soccer Match

I'm an avid soccer fan.
I play and watch the game of any team with no loyalty or psycho-fancy to any club, only my national team.
Nonetheless,I'm inclined to love teams which play tiki taka soccer and so your guess is as well as mine.
I'd first wish to console the fans of club that lost over the weekend.I'm still wondering what's happening to the 'big' clubs, they're thoroughly being punished by 'small' teams.

Business,Life and Soccer are synonymous:

Not that we are weak in any way.
Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal (EPL,28-08-11)
At times life can heftily punish us,not because we are in anyway weak but it just happens.Even after the defeat the esteem should always be high, knowing that it's not the end there is still another chance to try being the best.
Let the mighty have their way.Germany 8-0 Saudi Arabia (World Cup 2002 ,June 1)
At times we have to let the mighty have their way. There is little we can do;they have the authority, they're are powerful, they have all the support from all over, poor us,but let's just give it a trial.

Everything is at stake here.
Man.city 3-2 Swansea(EPL,2011/2012)
Time is running out,it's extra time,Swansea are leading 2-1 by 91th minute, they are safe from relegation zone
We haven't won the title for 44yrs and with the massive investment made,wa,..4 minutes will determine alot.
There comes a time in our lives where situations pushes us to the edge and every minute turns out is critical.
Each opposing elements are heavily fighting for their well being.

At times it takes individual brilliance to do it
Barcelona 7-1 Bayern Leverkusen(Champions League 2012)
In this game Messi scored five goals of the seven.Likewise in business and life at times it is not all of us who will did it,someone actually turned out to be outstanding to achieve

It's never too late.
Reading 5-7Arsenal (Carling Cup fourth round 2011)
How can one explain going down 4-0 by halftime then Arsenal reverses the whole situation and at the end of the game they win 7-5,It shows it's not over until it's over there is nothing unachievable as long as one believes and fights for it

At times all the forces work for us/against us.
Starting with the referee, the technical well being, the home fans and everything sails/becomes difficult

When not in the action you only theoretically analyze a situation
Soccer fans are the best advisers but it may even be most of them don't know how to kick a ball.
When  player whose team is on away ground, listens to the booing of the fans,it can demotivate them.
Just do your thing the best way you know how having applied the best of practices, the rest is noise ignore and move on.

Passion & talent can enable us achieve a lot
Soccer players are talented in that area. They play with passion to see their teams through victoriously. They can do anything possible for the sake of winning.

....
Have a 'soccerific' week.

Why?

A young girl wasn't eating the head and tail of fish. She was very disgusted when she saw others eat them. But, one day she decided to re-look into why she wasn't eating them. She noted that her mother had not been cooking the same too. On inquiring her mother responded that her mother, now the granny to the girl, was not cooking them too. The girl got shocked.
She thought now is the perfect chance to know why the granny wasn't cooking the head and the tail of fish who in turn responded that her mother, great grandma to the girl, wasn't cooking them too!
This made the girl furious and amused at the same time, luckily the great grandma was alive.
The grandma started by giving history on different issues and finally responded to that,'..my pan was too small to accommodate an entire fish so I chopped the tail and the head!'

Have you ever sat down and asked yourself why this or that. Many are the times when we join the boats of others without asking deep queries as to why and we start sailing, on to realize the direction they were heading were completely opposite from where we wanted to go. The how can be very easy once your why are very strong, and as -Bernard Baruch said,' Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton was the one who asked why'.

There is power in asking questions it will get us what we want, I recall a time one Dr. Wale was giving a talk and he asked a question that was to win one a collection of his books, unfortunately no one got, after he was done with the talk I stood and asked, 'Dr, you had the heart of giving a collection of your books, does it mean you will go back with them?",He responded by saying, "Come have them".

Even the Bible says,
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek; and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8

Question everything, it's key to knowing and redefining the way we live.

Passive income is my all time favorite source of money.I invest my resources in my quest to enter this bracket. If you are a believer that you don't have to work your entire life time for money, that you can let money work for you while you do what you love most, then this is yours. It is an income received on regular basis with little effort required to maintain. One invests one off energy and the rest is simply maintenance.

My business mentor earns from this bracket.I asked him what he does with his time since at the end of the day money will still enter his account,'I utilize my time thinking hard on how someone will labor hard for me'. He responded,'You know people are all over looking for jobs to do, not entities to start,it's their choice, who am I not to offer them that'. If someone pays you 50k,how much do you think he is making  through you...',he continues.I chuckle but feel bitter.'Sam,think!',he pauses.I'll look foolish as long as I continue walking with him and fail to start up something tailored towards passive income.

Immediately I embark on a long journey of searching the sources of passive income.I will be writing them in series.Today we look at Royalties.

Royalties is the income received for the right to use:
>Literary dramatic,musical or artistic work
>Approved intellectual property/Innovation
They are typically agreed upon as a% of the gross or net revenues derived from the use of an asset or a fixed price per unit sold of an item

Most royalty income earners are usually protected by the intellectual property laws through copyrights(for Music,Books, Softwares),patents, trademarks(like in franchising),industrial design rights and in some cases trade secrets.
Royalty income earners include:
-Books;publishing,reselling
-Music;Production,performance synchronization,reselling,web-streaming
-Softwares
-Franchise,Joint venture,alliances and partnerships
-Artwork
-Extraction of oil, gas, minerals and other non-renewable resources
-Technical services and assistance in technology transfer.
-Movies.

A Lunch With A Millionaire

I've had the privilege like most of us have had,of talking with millionaires. But there is a  'unique' category of people. When they get a chance they start asking questions like,'How to make a good CV','What are some of the questions asked during interviews','Can you get me a job or a connection of a job'...I must confess I find this ridiculous. What business does a millionaire have to do with the gimmicks that happen during interviews or to get jobs instead of making another million? I think it's only that they shy away from calling us stupid. It's like going to a spiritual leader to inquire about a medical condition or mortgage, they will only pray  and 'libainasaikayokutaichi' for us,but that's faith without action which is dead.

We throw parties to friends spend a few thousands for this, but has it ever crossed my mind to invite for lunch one of the many millionaires we have in town? Not that I will be trying to impress(any way what is there to impress them) but I'm just creating a network and life time changing lessons. They will feel honored if not humbled by your request and they will squeeze out the juices from them.

One day I spent an afternoon with a business mentor who has created a system that makes him money even when absent.when I asked him what he does with his time,he responded,'Thinking'. Who am I not to learn from those who have already made it and thought about what we are about to think. They are willing to show you how they've made it and how we too can make it.

But when we get that chance, let them not feel like we have wasted their precious time by asking questions one could have visited uncle Google or some HR experts. The questions below can help us reap more...

(1)How did you make your first million?
(2)How long did it take you?
(3)How long would it take today?
(4)What is the system used to grow wealth?
(5)Is the system transferable and how long would it take?
(6)The most important lesson you've learnt so far and mistakes made?
(7)What are spiritual values in your life?
(8)What legacy you want to leave?
(9)What are the most important habits to get there/
(10)What opportunities do you see?
...the list can be longer

Let's have a more open mind.
Have an awesome lunch with a millionaire,it will be a delicious I can assure you.

'Aaagh,Alarm again at 5 am,God will understand, why can't I just say my prayers from here',that's my cold inner voice fearing to go for morning devotion.'But,wait, what and where are those 'funny' voices coming from'.I raise my head from bed in curiosity wipe my eyes with my hands and open all ears like I'm in Hague court hearings. My good Lord, for heaven's sake I was going for prayers I mean, you can,t be doing this to my senses, that's unfair.Someone is having 'fun'.That was when I stayed in Kape 64.The slaughter house was the room down my floor.Well,I went for the prayers but my day was just like you want to guess.

It's 9pm,I'm preparing my ugali at Meru 36,I'm wondering why is my ugali making funnier noise today, anyway,Physics was not my subject and connecting the sounds  made when cooking and  measuring the decibels is not in my mind.On finishing, stop imagining!,what you think was happening was happening in one of the rooms. And my night was,eeeh...

I'm cleaning dishes,I can be able to differentiate the smell of  Shisha and herb from the smell of a stinking loo.

The drink looks like a soda, but from his behaviors either the soda has expired or deliberately contaminated.

When she opens up her mouth you can be sure there will be heavy words, the latest such that only Lucifer can decipher.

'Is that Mwakenya',my my my... 'I  wish he went for programming that's where coding happens!'I exclaimed.

'Please come over for supper',That was a perfect invitation.I like when the burden of cooking is offloaded from me.I majestically walk to her premises. On entering,wa wa,I was about to black out,'I'm sorry to  enter while you were dressing,I can excuse myself so that you dress up',I turned back to close the door,'Sam,stop that,I'm dressed just get in',Huu I knew it's gonna be the longest supper time I've ever had,but in one way or the other I survived the 'wrath'.

....Not to mention extreme rave the 'Sabina Joy' like,House parties,..............

These are just but examples of the things that happen in our campuses.I know the 3rd yrs are very happy to be allotted a single room, but that could be the worst thing that ever happened to you in your entire life if you are not cautious.I thank God to have escaped by whisker the temptations. Many fell victims of circumstances and are bitter of the aftermath.May they find solace.

Those things that we were being told about campus to be cautious about when one was joining in first year are real.I witnessed. If you have not yet seen or heard, strive hard not to experience them.Campus has anything one wants and one can easily get.Just choose.

I'm thankful to God to have heard my gentle prayer that I said when entering the gates of Campus my first day.I walked with Him and grew. That's the only thing that salvaged my four years of stay.Temptations were many, others seemed irresistible, but when one has a strong why to or not to,it becomes easier.

I can only prescribe the same dose to,you can be sure you will never be disappointed. What the Bible says you do just meekly follow, that calls for one making it their reference diary.I also realized that when your conscience sends a red signal just stop, there could be danger ahead.
